Memphis FC Adds Firepower Up Top with Signing of Declan Mettee
Memphis FC continues to build momentum ahead of its inaugural USL League Two season with the addition of a dynamic new attacking threat. The club has officially announced the signing of forward Declan Mettee, a proven goal scorer with a track record of impact at every level of the game.
Hailing from Asheville, North Carolina, Mettee joins Memphis FC following a strong collegiate career with the Wofford Terriers, where he quickly established himself as a dangerous presence in the final third. During the 2024 season, he recorded two goals and one assist while earning Southern Conference Player of the Week honors—recognition that highlighted his ability to deliver in key moments.
Standing at 6’2”, Mettee brings a compelling combination of size, movement, and attacking instinct. His versatility across the front line allows him to create mismatches, whether stretching defenses with his runs or finishing chances in and around the box. His knack for stepping up in crucial situations—particularly in game-winning moments—adds another layer of excitement to Memphis FC’s growing roster.
Before his time at Wofford, Mettee competed at Central Arkansas and developed within the Asheville City system, gaining valuable experience in competitive, high-level environments. His journey through these programs has shaped a well-rounded forward who understands both the physical and tactical demands of the game.
Mettee’s scoring pedigree dates back even further. In high school, he amassed an impressive 102 goals and earned Player of the Year honors, signaling early on that he possessed a natural eye for goal. That consistency has followed him into the collegiate ranks—and now into the next chapter of his career.
As Memphis FC continues assembling its squad for the 2026 season, the addition of Mettee represents another important step forward. His presence strengthens the club’s attacking unit and reinforces its commitment to bringing in players who can make an immediate impact on the field.
With the season on the horizon, Memphis fans have plenty to be excited about.
Welcome to Memphis, Declan.
